We did a 10 day Egypt tour with 3 day Hurghada stay in Dec 2007 with Cinderella Tours and this is our feedback.
Our meet and greet was well appreciated. We were transferred to the 1st tour guide (Tamil), escorted to a 4 star hotel. Dinner was promised but not provided
Our driver for Day 2 got into an accident on his way for us, so after a couple hours, we were assigned a standby tour guide/driver. Generally a good day except for him wanting to take us to a perfume and papyrus bazaar which we soon realised the $$$ was highly inflated.
On arrival in Aswan, we were met by yet another tour guide Hussein who did not know who Cinderalla Tours was. We had to catch a local taxi (the promise of private vehicle did not materialise) and was taken to a 2 star (if even) motel even though we paid for a 4 star. Lunch and dinner was included in our package but we did not receive. Only after finally making some noise, Hussein gave us LE 50 for dinner.
We were eventually dropped off at a seemingly "3 star" nile cruise boat "Rosetta" which when compared to the nearby boats, we realised our tour guide had paid for the cheapest or probably only remaining boat. We know for sure he only made the arrangements that morning as he did not know the name of the boat we were supposed to board unless last minute. The room was comfortable but the food was a bit disappointing. We believe they re-cooked the left over lunch food for dinner because both my wife and I got ill the following day. Our felluca ride which was promised never materialised. It seemed the tour guide of the day did not know anything about arranging a fellucca ride.
In luxor, we had to miss our tour to the temple because we had to check out at 8 am and wait around for the tour at 3pm and then transfer to bus station @9pm for 7 hr ride to Hurgada. As a result, we changed the bus ticket to 11am to arrive in hurgada later that day. We were dropped off at the local bus station by yet another local taxi. No idea where to go. We eventually boarded the local bus for what was the worst bus ride my wife and I have ever had. (I must admit that Muhammed -Owner did mention to me that I could pay extra for a taxi to take us to Hurghada but he did not mention the local bus ride is NOT recommended for tourist. We were stopped 3 times along the way and had to show passports) Arrived in Hurghada and had to wait for about 1 hr for the tour guide to meet us and drop us off at the hotel. Had I known the hotel was a few mins away, I probably would have taken a local taxi.
The Hurghada leg was probably the highlight. We were put up at Desert Inn Hotel which was comfortable. We had to pay an extra 90US for an Ole Years Night gala party which we were told was not optional.
The return leg to Giza was by a tourist bus and much more comfortable.
REVIEW.....all in all Egypt is worth visiting, however the amount of "scams" that were pulled on us made us wary of everyone and threatened to sour the stay. while cinderalla tours downgraded us on almost every stage of the trip. In retrospect, it seemed our tour was being "sold" at different segments to different tour operators because when asked, none knew who Cinderella tours was.
This tour was cheaper than competitor's $$$$ I received for the same agenda. I guess we got what we paid for as the experience was "cheap". We had no less than 6 tour guides who each rushed through the day's activities, we had to hop local taxis even though promised private cars, paid for meals we never received, stayed at less than 4 star hotels, and generally was not briefed of the following day's activities in detail.
Thanks to Muhammed and Tamil the better of the tour guides nonetheless. They knew their history.
If this is how they treat people, I would not recommend Cinderella Tours however, and have already ensured my colleagues visiting Egypt use another operator. Suggest you pay the extra $$$ and go with a more recognised tour operator. I have pics of the motels, nile cruise boat and taxis if anyone is interested.
