Possibly a good number of you have heard of this by now.

Google has launched a brilliant free to use atlas of the world called Google Earth. You can fly around the globe from destination to destination, and the best thing about it is you can zoom down to street level at many cities around the world in Hi resolution

The best news is that Cairo is one of the cities that has been added in Hi Res. The detail is brilliant from northeast Cairo to Dashur, allowing you to see great aerial images of the Pyramids, Saqqara etc.

It is a free download with a file size of 11 Meg, and Broadband connection is really a must have.

Thanks for that Jimmy. The new Forum is looking very good. Definite improvement over the old.
Plus I have never been in the company of living Pharaohs and Queens. Heck, even I'm a Monarch!! Never in my life have I climbed the social ladder so quickly. If at all! ;)

I think you're wrong on this one Goldie.
1) AD is now AD1 (new regulations of three-letter-names.
2) AD does not need to hide, escept in Maadi :)
3) I am much better looking than No-Mad :) (That is judging by the photo only -sorry No-Mad -stick around and you will laugh with us a lot)

Google Earth has come a long way since 2005, now it can be included on web pages as you can see in this real estate catalog.. redsearealestate.info.. there are many areas in egypt with high resolution now.. it's like virtual traveling..

When touregypt.net Web 2.0 version comes online.. it could use the same thing.. to show the main attractions from satellite view.. this would be cool!

all the best to all "virtual travelers" who spend too much time behind their keyboard :)

That's great news. It seems to be very useful for travelers in finding ways to Cairo.
