Neil`s right, nothing else remains to be done.
Let`s turn over a new leaf.
Thank you guys for comforting me in my misadventure, but I can promise such a thing
won`t happen again. I`ve enabled the Trash Can function, thus this risk is eliminated.

Ooh, this looks so familiar... can I hazard a guess and say it's one of the double statues of Amun and Mut in Luxor temple?

In the foreground I see an archway and a mastaba.
In the distance the Pyramid of Senwosret II at Il-Lahun?
If so, behind the photographer must be the desert.

No... Here are some hints:
1. Alexander the Great
2. The site was lost to the world for over 1,000 years until it's rediscovery in 1,792 A.D
Joerg

Yes it is.

It overlooks a valley that was fertile some 1,500 years ago.
Today only a tiny little village remains.

Another hint?

The main temple at Dush, 125 Km South of the Kharga Oasis, dedicated to Osiris. The ancient name was Kysis, a wealthy city benefiting from slave trade between Sudan and North Africa. The slaves transported through the desert, along the Forty Days Road were mainly blacks, often Nubians. Slaves were highly treasured, and the most valuable were young Nubian women. They were said to have a cool skin no matter what the heat.

I'm afraid you will have to explain the Liszt hint - I didn't see a connection?

Actually her name is SS Sudan, but I accept.
The S/S Sudan steam ship was built in 1885. Agatha Christie's turn of the century classic "Death on the Nile" was shot aboard this regal ship once owned by King Fouad's court.
Admittedly in the film she beared the name SS Karnak.

The Temple of Dendera:
Detail of the outer hypostyle hall's Astronomical Ceiling. The continuing cycle of a day is represented by Nut. Her dress is the sky; between her legs is the birth of the sun, which disappears at night as she swallows it. The sun's rays illuminate Hathor.

What is unusual about the position of the illustration? - I have't figured out yet! sad.gif

I can't say for sure, but if you look closely, you will notice that the boats and the little figures in the boats are all upside down. Since we are waiting on a the actual response from neilk, I thought I would post this Far-Side that rolled forward on my desk calendar a couple of weeks ago - I've been waiting for the right opportunity to use it, now seems appropriate.

I've seen that - it's obvious. And it seems that it is not unusual when we are dealing with Nut (seeing people and stuff turned upside down, etc.) wink.gif
I have also seen some upsidedown images inside a larger image in some other presentations in Egyptian tombs.
