My wife and I will be arriving at Alexandria via cruise ship in August (28th & 29th) for two days with a departure from Port Said. Rather than take a shore excursion sponsored by Princess Cruises, my friends and I have decided to take a private overnight tour with Blue Nile Tours. Are we required to obtain Visas or is our U.S Passports and Ship ID card sufficient?

As US citizens you will require a visa to enter Egypt, even for only 2 days.

A single entry visa should be able to be obtained on arrival in Alexandria upon payment of a $15.00 US fee; but be aware that your cruise company carries out this service for you they may add an administration fee to the cost of the visa.

Hope this helps to answer your question.
