While I was in the Egyptian Museum last week I was shocked to discover that the price of admission to the Royal Mummy Room has increased significantly. The student ticket has increased from LE35 to LE50 and the adult ticket from LE70 to LE100 - i.e. by 43%.

I fear this is a portent of things to come... rumours have been abounding that the government is going to raise entrance ticket prices across the board this November. When they did this 2 years ago the increases ranged from 40% to 175%, with the average increase around 75%.

Come one, come all! Come over to Egypt before the prices go up!!!

I so wish I could go this year sweetie.
I live in Canada. I spend $20.00 Canadian to go see a movie. The theme park here is something like $40.00 to get through the door. Restaurants...the really nice ones average $150.00 to $200.00 when my husband takes me out...crazy aye? I went to my first Egyptian exhibition last year in Halifax, Nova Scotia...I can't remember for the life of me how much it cost, it didn't matter, it was worth every cent. It was simply amazing...

The price of admission to the Royal Mummy Room has increased because now we have two mummy halls not just one as they just inaugurated a new hall 1 month ago and now we have 14 mummies. So, why is increasing of the prices.



Concerning the other sites of Egypt by next November all tickets will increase 25% not more this to get more tolls n care about the museum and all tourist sights. it is not a rumors dear.

But I thought there were 12 before?!?!? So they increase the number of mummies by 17% and the entrance fee by 43%? Makes sense.....



Hmm... I guess that means old Zahi didn't rake in as much cash with his Tut tour as he'd hoped...

Yikes!!

I think the solution is obvious, don't you? Cut out the movies and fancy dinners and in 12 months you'll have enough money saved to come and visit Egypt!!!

And who needs a theme park when the whole of Egypt is like a giant theme park, complete with unique attractions (pyramids & ancient temples), natural wonders (the Red Sea, deserts & oases), fabulous entertainment (sound & light shows, sunrises on top of Mount Sinai), colorful costumed characters (bagpipe playing pharaohs at the pyramids) and thrill rides (the black and white taxis)???? And yes, we have popcorn, ice cream and cotton candy [candy floss] too.....

What more could you ask for?

all-the-year skiing, ice skating, polar bear hunting, Molson Dry,
white-water rafting and so on

Wow I am so sorry every body as I mentioned 14 mummies I meant the new hall has 12 mummies beside the other 11 we had before in the first mummy hall I mean 23 mummies now found in the two halls.

Ya salam! Sounds interesting, I'll have to check it out on my next visit. I didn't know that they had expanded the exhibit as (unsurprisingly) there are no signs or anything to alert visitors. Thanks for the info Zahraa! Hope to bump into you again soon... maybe ABOVE ground next time!

Trust me, I would trade it any day for Egypt. I'm going to take Jane's advice.
